Get Unlocked is the challenge programme of innovation hub Dockwize. We scout innovative start-ups, students and SMEs (innovators) worldwide to collaborate with Zeeland businesses (challengers) to find solutions to challenges in the areas of water, food and energy.
IT'S A WRAP!
On Thursday 15 June, we kicked off the innovation movement Get Unlocked with an innovation event about the energy transition. With a Makers’ Pavilion, 6 interactive experiences, a keynote speaker and the thrilling finale of the ‘Boost The Grid Challenge’, it was a great success. The Get Unlocked movement has only just begun and we are looking forward to what comes next đź’ˇ.

Screening
What is your innovation challenge? Tell us your ambition, goal and constraints. We will create a challenge that delivers new solutions from both domestic and international innovators (start-ups, students and SMEs). Are you a company with an innovation challenge? Get in touch with Dockwize!
ContactA good start is essential for success. Based on workshops, Dockwize will help you specify your challenge. The outcome is a well-developed challenge ready for launch.
Who should participate in the challenge? What are the critical goals (such as knowledge sharing, image and communication)? Where are the opportunities and what are the vulnerabilities? During the initial workshops, we will establish the stakeholder field.
What interests are at stake? Is the challenge feasible? During the workshops, we will examine how the challenge can help with innovation. We will compare costs and revenues, taking risks into account.
What innovative solutions are you looking for? Are there any ideas or themes that can help innovators (start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs)? During the first workshops, we will choose a roadmap that inspires participants to come up with solutions.
Participants will receive a reward if they are selected. We will determine and communicate this from the beginning. In any case, the challenge will benefit the start-up by finding a new customer or market, and benefit the challenger by solving a problem, realising savings and boosting innovation!
You will determine the selection criteria, such as experience, innovation, sustainability, ownership or feasibility. The experienced Dockwize team will give you input and help you select the right criteria.
Scouting
and selection
After devising the challenge, we will create a schedule with the team and publish the challenge question on www.getunlocked.nl and in the media. In consultation with you, we will also arrange communication, scouting, participation, assessment and judging.
Dockwize has been working with international scouting agencies for years to search for innovators (start-ups, students and SMEs). We will create a list of potential participants and partners and approach promising initiatives. Thorough scouting ensures that challenges lead to long-term partnerships.
You will choose which parties fit the challenge and who will proceed to phase 3: deal-making. Experienced Dockwize coaches will assist you in this process.
Deal
making
The best participants have been selected and invited. They will receive more information about the challenge and get to know you better as the challenger. Dockwize facilitates communication to find solutions. This can take place over one day or several days.
Together with Dockwize coaches, you choose the solutions with the most potential. The best solutions will be announced and vouchers will be issued to participants who proceed to phase 4: co-creation.
We will make clear agreements about intellectual property (IP) with the participants.
Before moving on to the next phase, we will determine the conditions for collaboration. What do innovators (start-ups, students and SMEs) need to develop a prototype? And how can the challenger or Dockwize best facilitate this? We will decide this in consultation.
We will verify if the solution works and sufficiently addresses the problem. We will assess the results in consultation in preparation for phase 4.
Co-Creation
In phase 4, participants and the Dockwize team will work on the solution together. We will inform the press about the collaboration and promote the results. Dockwize facilitates based on the specific project needs with customised support, networking, entrepreneurial methodologies and provision of workspaces.
The challenge is almost complete. You will decide which solutions receive a reward for further development. We will continue to measure and follow up on results in social media and press releases.
Do we conclude the challenge with a grand finale event or do we tone it down? You will decide how and when to close the challenge and showcase the solutions to the network.
